I'll be attending the run on sunday for sure

Demetan1- 10-05-2008

The next bear run is Sunday at 7pm server! There is a good chance that I won't be able to make it. We decided to wait until we have the right group makeup and not waiste an attempt. Next bear run has been postponed to monday 5:30 PM server time. Thanks for poeple who've shown and be back tomorrow night!

i may or may mnot be able to do a za run tonight :(

There is no good reason not to do as many ZA's as possible. Even if you HATEHATEHATE it (which is understandable), the bear run only exists for another week. If Mount Hyjal could be done in under an hour, had a guaranteed desirable reward at the end that was getting taken out of the game a week from now...even I would go do it. Shame on people who are purposely avoiding/refusing to do it.

The last bear run failed, this means one guildie has lost their shot at the bear already. This person is probably myself or Morrin. I think we should put a higher priority on the remaining runs to make sure the few left get their bears at least. ZA may not be fun the zillionth time, timed run or otherwise. However if you value a guildie and you want him to get a bear, a mount that will no longer be in existence in what appears to be a week, then spending a few hours should be something your willing to do.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that had an officer been in line for a Bear, a run would have taken place tonight. We are still assembling for raids, raids that for many of us are old hat, but we still come. To have a fully competent bear raid on line for 2.5 hours playing around in another instance that is old hat, boring and tired is like a slap in the face to the people who are trying to make things happen. I suggest that if our numbers do not allow for a 25 man raid, that every one but the ten raiders required for a Bare run be excused. They appear for the 25 man, they can endure a 10 man - and they should be led by the officers. It is naive to think that a title does not have power. If people with a title encourage, coax, show a positive attitude towards a goal, it happens. If people with a title slough off, find excuses, say disparaging things about a goal, it becomes ok for everyone else to do so. Three more possible times, three more hours, and then no one can ask again. Surely it is not too much to ask.

Remember that last night is still part of this current 3 day cycle. We didn't lose a bear by not going last night. There is still tonight and tomorrow to pick up this bear. (At least as far as I know that's the case... http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/calendar/) I think it's unfair to make that accusation. People are willing to go, but as we've discussed it's not fair to force people to go to make it work. I've been asked to go before, however I'm not one that can make or break a group. It's disappointing when a raid doesn't happen, and at least for myself it was welcome to be able to take an alt to Kara and not think about the main raid I was missing. However we didn't have the group for a bear last night, it was night one of the 3 night cycle, so that provides us tonight and tomorrow to have the right group. It's going to happen if the group is there.

On the one hand, you might be right JJ. Had we pushed and pushed and pushed we may have pulled off a bear run last night and who knows, maybe we ought to have. If we loose the bear this cycle then I do apologize. I know that we looked at a bear run last night and there was not the clear group to go without alot of pressure. I, for one, was nursing a migraine. Many of us just wanted to be low key and watch the debates. Kara seemed a good option for that. I know I didn't want to waste a bear opportunity by pushing a non-ideal group to go when it would rather be doing something else. Maybe we shouldn't procrastinate, but there is just a stronger mission to get it done later in the cycle. Perhaps we should have just logged off or played on an alt or something instead so as to not offend folk by being around. But that doesn't feel completely fair either. PS We did respond to you in gchat last night when you brought this up as well (a few moments late -- Attumen is serious business) but I am guessing that you had already afk'd.

za is not something that we enforce. It is 100% voluntary. I do encourage people to really put some focus into it over the next week for obvious reasons tho. Lets make sure we don't miss a reset, and maybe even get 2 per reset if we can.

Jejouie- 10-08-2008

There is a simple solution to the very obvious problem here. Lexington has plenty of skilled dps. Lexington has plenty of skilled healers. We quite simply need to recruit more tanks of all classes. Like most other guilds, this would mean implementing a tank rotation for raiding. However, having more active tanks will solve two problems. First, it will make it possible for guild members to have more options when it comes to instancing outside of "non-enforced" raids, no longer held captive to the presence and whims of 3 to 5 players. Second, it also will solve the apparent fatigue of the current tanks, giving them much needed time off, perhaps refreshing their joy of the game and their willingness to work with other guild members.

Lets make sure we don't miss a reset, and maybe even get 2 per reset if we can. I'm in a delicate situation since I'm one of the next to get his bear... I don't want to piss anyone but I'm with Talisee on this one... I'm certain that 2 bears per reset is more than possible with all the great players we have in the guild if everyone put a little of themselves into it. But then, I understand ZA isn't the funniest place aroud and that people that have run it a LOT may be burned of it.

Talisee- 10-08-2008

Recruiting tanks at this point for za would be irrelevant, by the time they were used to the way we do bare runs and how intense it is, it would be too late. We have two prot pallys, and more then 2 potential MT's. I will make an effort to schedule these runs somehow so we can try to maximize our bare's.

bodvarbjarki- 10-08-2008

We ran basically 5 tanks in T6: 3 warriors, a feral druid, and a prot pally. We were barely able to gear them sufficiently by the time we moved on to Sunwell, and some weren't even ready by the time we started Kal attempts (or later). Diluting the gear drops (esp the non-tier ones) with another tank would have meant a delay in moving on when we were up against the time limit of the XP. Not to mention that, in the part of SWP we were able to get to, we only needed 2-3 tanks per fight. Over-recruitment in dps and healers is also easier because of the fluid class requirements for many fights and because our dps/healer attendance isn't, on average, as good as our tank attendance. I don't think we should read too much into the robustness of our tank situation at one week before 3.0 and 5 weeks before the expansion. Obviously the number of regular tanks we can gear will be changed in the XP with the introduction of a new tanking class and new gear drop/acquisition mechanisms. It's something we'll keep an eye on.

More Tanks?
Our tanks have a fairly high attendance rate. And I've never had trouble putting together a bear run (pun intended) and I do go when I'm on they are organized. I understand people are feeling the crunch for time now, with possibly as few as 5 days until 3.0 release, (quite possibly more, but the magic 8 ball says all signs point to the 14th) and its quite frustrating to not be able to put 10 folks together to get something like this done. But don't point fingers at the officers. I'm sure they are very busy with preparation to transition into the Xpac, as well as getting ready to be able to make calls on raid makeup with 3.0, and might not have the time or energy to put these runs together. I'm out of town until this weekend, but I should be back in town Saturday. I can pull either the MT or the AOE tank spot (K or Zera) and I'll even do the organizing. I'll post more details about time and stuff when I know better when I'll be back.

I am not silly enough to believe Lexington can recruit tanks for one week of bear runs. However, given the structure of the upcoming patch with its ten mans, Lexington will need more tanks. Many people are on line every raid, some get sat. There is no reason this should not happen to tanks. In fact it would make the guild stronger because we would have more tanks familiar with the runs, and would not find ourselves making due with an under geared player when someone does not appear or does not feel like it. As to gearing, it strikes me that a fair number of tanks have multiple sets of T6, so I really do not see this a problem. Finally, I am not pointing fingers at any particular person, I am stating quite clearly that I believe that if the officers as a group made this a priority it would happen.
