WoWDigger: On loot and upgrades Because we've had a couple of small issues with loot -- namely confusion over items, and last minute hectic decisions as to whether something was an upgrade or not -- I've suggested that people be mandated to make a kind of wishlist. Since we're close to done with t5, it doesn't really make sense from an administrative standpoint to make people make a t5 set like this (although I wouldn't be opposed if anyone who still had items they wanted out of t5 did), but I think it would be helpful to everyone if the majority of people made one for t6. Despite my whining, this is in fact, not mandated or required at this time either, but I would like to see a majority of people make one.
It is a good idea because it forces people to actually look through the loot table for the raids they go to to see where the upgrades for them are. There have been many MANY occasions in this guild where someone saw an item for the first time when it dropped off a boss, and either passed on an obvious upgrade because they had not known it existed and were caught off guard, or bid on it and took it because they thought it was something else. We had an incident last night like this, and I would like to prevent them in the future, for the betterment of everyone. Now, keep in mind this list does not necessarily constitute the only gear you can ever possibly want, or bid on. It can be made of a mix of late BT and even Sunwell gear, which we are obviously going to not be seeing for awhile and which there are probably upgrades for many in between, but simply perusing the loot table to make your 'If the WoW World Revolved Around Me' set is probably going to go a long way towards familiarizing yourself with the other drops (i.e. 'Oh wow, there's a nice helm between this and the one off Illidan, but no good bracers for me past Winterchill =( ' ). I want people to know what are upgrades from them from each boss ideally before we kill the boss, not have to do a panicked 'Oh Shit' dance to decide if they want to bid on this loot they didn't know existed.
I've found a good site for making item wishlists. It's similar to the old ctprofiles site, if anyone remembers that, and while there are a few others that can also be used in the same fashion, this is for me the easiest to work with, navigate and customize on. I've included a link to the site below, as well as instructions for getting started, which may or may not be unnecessary for some, but are provided just in case. You can use the site not just to make wishlists, but to compare your stats between gearsets and weigh upgrades, which makes it really nice. I've been using it in this capacity for a couple of months. Anyhow, the site is:
http://www.wowdigger.com
Now, on the top right of the screen, there is an option to Log In or Register. Click on that, then click on Register. Go through all of that, which is really easy. You may be asked to download the WoW Uploader add-on that is affiliated with this site, but you don't have to if you don't want to. The add-on is not malicious, but it is not necessary to anything either.
Once you are registered, Log In and go to Account and Characters, which is in the same spot as the link to Log In or Register was.
Under Quick Links, select Create a New Character, fill out their information (level, race, etc.). Following this, it should return you to the same screen, and your character(s) will be listed below. Note that you MUST have JavaScript enabled, at least for this site, in order for your characters' names or their profiles to display. You can create multiple outfits for your character for various gearsets, specs if you want to, to see what your stats would look like.
Type the name, or partial name of an item into the search bar. Selecting an item from the results will bring you to a screen telling you where the item drops from, and also asks you which character you wish to put the item on, via a small drop down box on the right side of the screen. Selecting a character will take you to another screen asking which outfit you want to put the item on. The Default is always set to Wishlist, but you can pick any. This is also the screen where you decide on the sockets or enchants for the item, as applicable. Once you are done, select Add to put it on your character.
And there you go. Repeat that as necessary until your outfit is finished. Obviously, this site is best used in conjunction with another site open in another window/tab that has a loot database you don't have to keep interrupting your outfit creation for. I prefer thottbot for the ease of navigating it, but just use your favorite.
For all those that do this, I'd like for them to post links to their profiles here if possible. Mine is provided below. Show off your diligence and how well you itemize! :)

Edit: For the ease of later perusal, I am going to include every submitted wishlist in this post.

It seems to mess up my weapon enchants...but I did it for Hyjal/BT loot, without thinking about 2.4/sunwell
I know I'm over hit, and my current bracers, belt, and gloves are good enough that if I didn't upgrade them before sunwell I'd be fine with that.
EDIT 1: Wooterz on my first piece of wish list gear getting added :)
Wishlist - Uh ya i havent been raidingl ately since i have been busy with kara on my mage so i have respecd back to fury from arms and want to get into raiding. Im not expecting invites to the things that need all our top players but maybe upgrading from my T4 would get me on the same level as you guys. I will try to attend as many raids as possible starting next tuesday and hopefully can get back on track with you guys. I still need T4 legs from gruuls and a shitload of tk/eye items.

My wish list still consists mostly of KZ, ZA, SSC, and TK. Dont really care much for most of the BT and Hyjal gear except for the belt and boots.
I would of course love T6 for the sexy set bonuses, but with the tokens being shared with Warriors I doubt I'll see any of it, thats why it not on wishlist.

dkp is new for T6 intances, so you have a good shot at T6 stuff, plus 3 tokens per boss in 2.4, so even more chances.
OK This was a bit frustrating for me because my ultimate T6 set includes several items from Sunwell (namely the T6 bracers, boots and belt) and the Gloves of Tyri's Power. (assuming that they stay relatively close to the forms listed on MaxDPS today). Obviously none of these are showing up on wowdigger at the moment.
On to my 2nd frustration: Terraa already has the "best" single target fire mage set up there. (with a few points to quibble -- do you want a fire damage only necklace? haste cloak or crit cloak?)
However, not all of us will be lucky enough to get the Leggings of the Channeled Elements. So I figured it would make sense to put up the alternate 4pT6 set out of MH/BT which has the Cowl of the Ilidari High Lord.
I went ahead and gemmed it all with +12 spelldam (because that is the right thing to do) but if I were actually making this set I would probably only put those gems in the robe, the cowl, the leggings of channeled elements because the other pieces would be changed in Sunwell and it would probably be a waste to use them here (especially given how many folk will want them). The other thing to note if you are looking at this closely is that my metagem was not listed this morning for some reason so I put the spellcrit/spell reflection one in as a placeholder. Obviously I would use the same spellcrit/+3% dam on crit gem that I have in my helm now.

Nanika- 02-29-2008
wowdigger occasionally has bugs that cause some items to not show up. Kireena had this problem yesterday when I was trying to run her through how to work wowdigger with the shadow damage necklace (Rittsyn's Lost Pendant). In general, you should be able to see all the t6 stuff, including the Sunwell t6 just by searching up Tempest. Nanika is using both the t6 bracers and the new mail pants off of Felmyst in Sunwell on the list I made for her. If you can't, you can often type in part of the name of an item in the search bar -- without hitting enter -- and it will show up on a drop-down bar of all similarly named items. I found Gloves of Tyri's Power this way.
As far as maxdps goes, I'm not sure if I totally trust their opinions on items. They seem to be of a mind that haste is the single best damage stat ever, in any situation, and I don't know how much stock I can put in that. I'm not sure I am ready to believe a haste healing cloak is going to provide more dps than Cloak of the Illidari Council, for instance.
Also, glad to see the turn out for this thread so far. :)
