It is a nice modeling program that lets you see trade-offs in gear and buffs on dps etc. It has some built in optimizers as well. It can also be used to figure out the timing of pots/gems/trinkets/cooldowns given the length of a fight etc. Kinda like a grown up spreadsheet model.

The prot warrior model is off. It seems like they want to try and apply druid mechanics to the prot warrior. Case in point, if you look at the rings and capes, it gives the ones with the high armor value higher rating than the others. My hyjal exalted ring is actually fairly low on the scale (exalted violet eye, and even shermanar are above it) when in fact it is one of the better tank rings in the game. Slikk's cloak is listed as the best cape (again, maybe for a druid) when Pepe's is regarded as better than that for warrior tanks. It's a nice tool, but I'll take everything it says with a grain of salt.

Actually playing with it -- I don't like the 14.1 model that much for mages either. Some of the sequencing seems off on cooldown management (including some simple things like having mana gems and SCB used at different times when eating a mana gem is what triggers SCB).
Anyhow - it is always good food for thought to evaluate others' theorycrafting.

PS I know that the Prot warrior stuff is brand new so doesn't surprise me that it isn't too robust yet.
PPS As far as the gear selections go, the power of it, at least for the mage model, is that it allows you to change one piece of gear (like getting the OH from Rage) and see what that would mean for your dps once you swap out other pieces to reflect the new hit lvls and/or regem. We all have a number of gear sets that we should be considering: the one we have today, the one we want to have when going to brutallus, and interim sets along the way.
