Locks & Infernals From EJ, Destro Locks:
"Summoning an infernal will not remove your Demonic Sacrifice, and is a nice way of increasing dps. It does around 30-40k damage in the 5 minutes before it breaks the enslave. It's usable in Sunwell (notably on Brutallus) and in Mount Hyjal. It is not usable on Archimonde or Kalecgos, as being out of range of your infernal can set it off on the raid."
So, when can I expect to see some infernals?

Sure, if you're prepared to having an infernal running amok attacking melee when it breaks enslave randomly.
I'm up for experimenting with it in MH, but healers need to be prepared for when it breaks, which is often before the 5 minutes max.

The initial summon of the infernal is a guaranteed 5min duration, and Forte will have a timer for it so you can call out when it is about to break.

It's worth experimenting with at least, right? I mean, presumably whoever wrote the EJ thread on warlock PvE raiding isn't an idiot.

It is worth experimenting. Just saying, we need to warn everyone so they don't panick or worse, try to kill the infernal before it's enslaved :)

I've actually got a stack of the infernal reagent sitting in my inventory waiting for Brutallus. The idea, or so I'm told, is to cast it at exactly one minute into the fight so that you get the maximum 5 minutes of dps before it breaks free.

Let's experiment on Tuesday, shall we? So locks, bring reageants.

I'd cast it with more like 4:40 left on the enrage, so that even if you end up heading for a post-enrage kill, the infernal doesn't turn on you.

Will do, but there are two things to remember: First, that the infernal can only be summoned once an hour. Second, it's squishy as hell. It'll die early on any boss with non-trivial raid damage, which is most of them. It's only worth using on Brutallus because it's immune to fire, and there aren't many bosses in BT/MH that do only fire damage to the raid (Supremus and Azgalor are pretty much it).

Just make sure you call out when it's about to drop so those of us prone to dying can have some prep time...

Wouldn't Azgalor be a perfect fight to try the Infernal on?
The raid damage is fire based, he's kinda like Brut (similar demon, 2h vs dual weild think that means similar dmg reduction)
I've never paid attention how long a fight he is.
